O’Connor Play & Learn provides long day care for up to 73 children, aged from three months to six years. We are open Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm for the entire year (except public holidays). Our environment and learning is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy.

Two neighboring houses have been transformed into this warm and inviting centre. Children are grouped by age in to four areas: Babies’ room, Toddlers’ room and Pre Kindy room are located in the main building while the kindergarten program  is provided in the adjacent house – known as the Kindy House. Both houses have an extensive art studio open during outside play with access to a wide range of recycled and natural materials, allowing the children to explore their world through art.

Our homely Babies’ room has a range of quality play resources available to cater for the younger children. The qualified educators program daily to include singing, story and puppet time, promoting language, interaction, music and movement with the babies.

A dedicated Food Coordinator provides homecooked, heathy and nutritious meals daily.

Weekly fun and educational incursions such as the ‘Flexible Friends’ are provided and included in our fees. Physical activity inspires coordination, gross motor skills and encourages children to make positive, healthy choices for themselves, the world around them and in their relationships with others.

Both sites have extensive gardens and play spaces for children to explore and are joined by a gate for easy access.   Incorporating the natural environment and sustainability into our everyday practices, the outdoor area includes a mud kitchen and vegetable garden along with our popular in-ground trampoline.

Three and four year olds can enrol in our Kindy Program run by an Early Childhood Teacher. Children have the opportunity to learn and consolidate those all important numeracy, literacy and social skills to support them with their transition into primary school.

“Dear Bec, Robyn and team,

Thank you so much for an awesome 6th birthday party!
I really appreciated the long hours and impressive decorations, fun activities (balloons, facepaint, cupcakes, touchpool, yoga) and especially the very creative educator costumes!!

I am once again proud to be part of such a dedicated daycare community. Congratulations,  everyone!

Khalin and Pippa”

“Our experience at O’Connor Play & Learn has been wonderful. The centre highly values play in children’s education and the facilities at the centre uphold this. We were amazed at the outdoor spaces and how much the children are able to explore, play and use their imaginations. Our son now attends the ‘Kindy house’ and has learnt so much in his time there, he has formed some lovely friendships with the children and the educators. The staff are kind and caring and always provide great feedback at the end of the day; verbally and through the use of the Kindy portfolio. We love how the learning that takes place is driven by the children’s interests. We are so glad we made the choice to move to Play & Learn and feel it is a great stepping stone towards formal education, we will be sad to leave when the time comes.”

“Sam has been at O’Connor Play & Learn full time since he was 10months old. He is now nearly two. He absolutely loves it. He has the most professional, kind and inactive carers we know he is in great hands. We love the comfortable and play based learning environment and find the level of communication between the educators and us is brilliant.”

“I really appreciate all the staff and the Centre for taking such good Care of both my boys. And for the constant positive feedback. I really appreciate the flexibility especially with my youngest who has so many appointments, it means he doesn’t miss out on his kindy experience. Thank you all!”

“O’Connor Play & Learn was recommended to us by friends whose children had been to the centre and loved it. We have been really happy with our choice to send both our girls to O’Connor and find the staff working there very professional, caring and approachable. You can see they genuinely care for the children and are regularly organising special activities for them to make the centre a really special place. Plus, whenever we have asked for additional days the centre has been very accommodating, we receive regular communication about what’s happening and it’s run by a really friendly admin team. We feel totally confident leaving our children with the team at O’Connor and would recommend the centre to other parents!”

“I can say that the centre setup is wonderful and the staff are very attentive and patient. They always know Yuki and what she likes and needs and even remember her older sister Hikaru and often ask about her. It is a joy to drop off Yuki knowing full well she is in capable hands, playing, learning and being with friends.”

“Our family has utilised the services of O’Connor Play & Learn for our two children from March 2010 to December 2014 and we feel lucky to have been part of such a unique centre. The biggest asset this centre has is the staff who care and treat each child in a fair and nurturing way. The home cooked meals are a comfort for frantic families and, for reasons I cannot begin to understand, my children eat more vegetables at O’Connor than in our own home! One of the reasons we chose O’Connor was that the outdoor environment is similar to a suburban backyard with plenty of trees and vegetation that the children can climb and investigate. It is great to have less plastic and structured play equipment in any childcare centre, as it allows children to create their own games and use their enormous imaginations. The children care for chicken’s and a rabbit, play with water, paint, sing, imagine and learn. It is a testament to the Kindy House educators that our daughter wanted to continue at O’Connor once she had started part-time kindy at our local primary school and she was able to do that one day per week. We wish all the staff at the O’Connor centre all the best for 2015 and thank them for their tremendous dedication to the welfare of children.”

“O’Connor Play & Learn is like a community hub for our family, where the longer-serving staff members and children facilitate a friendly, safe, creative and nurturing environment for our daughter. She has developed some beautiful relationships and learnt helpful and healthy habits that are enabling her to develop and thrive in her early years. As parents, we have also fostered great relationships, and enjoy going to the centre to see what the educators and kids have been up to. With plenty of outdoor space and a child-directed approach to play and learning, our daughter is always happy to be there. For this, we are very grateful.”
